My name is Phoenix-Avery Sarían (she/her), and I am a first-year Physics Ph.D. student at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. I currently work with Justin Vandenbroucke on the upgrade and characterization of the prototype Schwarzschild–Couder Telescope camera for the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO), with a focus on silicon photomultiplier calibration and detector performance.

More broadly, my research interests include cosmology, high-energy astrophysics, astroparticle physics, planetary science, and instrumentation. I enjoy working across computation, theory, observation, and engineering, and developing the skills to approach astrophysical problems from each of these perspectives.

Prior to joining UW–Madison, I earned my B.S. in Astronomy and Astrophysics from The Ohio State University (OSU) in May 2026, with minors in Education and Portuguese.
